October 30 only!
Thrillls, Chills and Tommyknockers!
For Halloween, Our Priest Mine will Become a “Spooktacular” Place for Some Family Fun and a Little History
This family friendly event is being coordinated by Hangtown’s Gold Bug Park Development Committee volunteers in cooperation with Placerville’s Parks and Recreation Dept. The guided tours are a fundraiser and 100 percent of the proceeds will be used to help preserve and protect the park’s rich mining history. We're listed on the National Register of Historic Places and as a Point of Historic Interest on the California Registry.
The Priest Mine is the perfect location to combine a little Halloween fun with some interesting Tommyknocker history. To learn more about these malevolent little characters, tho, you’ll just have to come to the mine!
”Thrills, Chills and Tommyknockers” is a family event and everyone is encouraged to come in costume. All kids will receive an apple donated by the local Apple Hill orchards.
Black Bart, the “Gentleman Bandit” will be at the Stamp Mill to share stories of his thievery, Gold Rush intrigue and poetic prowess. He will also give away some of his ill-gained riches to the kids in the form of chocolate gold coins.
Adding to the day’s activities will be demonstrations by the park’s talented blacksmiths. These artisans will be showing their wares and taking orders for special one-of-a-kind items for holiday gifts.
The Priest Mine Halloween tour tickets are $4.00 each and include the use of a hardhat. Ticket sales and the first tour will start at 10:00 a.m. Final ticket sales will be at 3:00 p.m. The last tour starts at 3:30 p.m. sharp. All park activities end at 4 p.m. each day.
