Welcome!

Situated within the city limits of Placerville is the historic,
61.5-acre, Gold Bug Park and Mine.

In 1965, the city leased the park from the
U.S. Bureau of Land Management. In 1981 the property
was deeded to the City of Placerville.

On February 1, 1985, the park was approved for
listing in the National Register of Historic places.

Now you can step back in time to the
mid 1800's and experience the gold rush era.

Summer season is daily April thru October,
Winter season is weekends November thru March, 12-4pm.

The park offers a covered picnic facility, gold mine tours,
gem panning, hiking trails, museum, gift shop and stamp mill.

The park and mine are popular destination for students
throughout California to explore and study
California History and the gold rush era.
Special guided tours are available for groups, both large & small.
