How to become a Gold Bug Park and Mine Volunteer

Blacksmith
While working in the blacksmith shop, volunteers are responsible for greeting the public and sharing Gold Rush history. Whether you are a seasoned blacksmith or someone wishing to learn the trade, this is the place for you! Many of the items forged in the blacksmith shop by our volunteers are available to the public on site or at the gift shop.

Tour Guide
While working as a mine tour guide, volunteers are responsible for greeting the public and sharing Gold Rush history. If you have a passion for sharing and enjoy speaking to the public, a volunteer position may be a good fit for you!


Qualifications
As a volunteer, you will need to be willing to carry out your assigned duties and responsibilities. You must be reliable and committed. A volunteer application form and fingerprints will be required. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Training and Working Conditions
If selected, you will receive training to acquaint you with the park and your specific duties. Hours are flexible and varied depending on park needs and your availability. The amount of time you volunteer is mutually agreed upon by you and your Supervisor before you start and may be changed as circumstances change.

Please fill out the volunteer application form and mail it to the Recreation Supervisor, Monique Plubell at 549 Main St. Placerville, CA 95667. You can also fill out a volunteer application form at the park.
